GRP :GR ‘du Pays des Maîtres Sonneurs’
Over 175 km leading you through the countryside that was home to the heroes of George Sand’s novel Les Maîtres Sonneurs (The Master Pipers), between Berry and Bourbonnais.

This novel came out in 1853. It is the story of the meeting between the peasants of Berry and the muleteers of Bourbonnais, of a voyage which is also a search for a certain kind of music. It is this exact same path, just as it is described in the novel, which will take you from Saint Chartier (Indre) to Huriel (Allier), via Préveranges (Cher) and Sainte Sévère (Indre). You can also do a shorter version of just the Northern part of the circuit (Indre), which takes you through the villages of Saint Chartier, La Motte Feuilly, Sainte Sévère, Pouligny Notre Dame, and La Châtre.
