Saint Martin’s Church
Vic

(JPG)

Its frescoes from the twelfth century were discovered under several layers of whitewash by the Abbé Périgaud in 1849. George Sand intervened by getting the appropriate government ministry involved, and after a report by Prosper Mérimée, the church was very quickly made a listed historical monument. Among the scenes shown in the paintings are the Last Supper, the Child with the Wise Men, the Passion, and episodes from the life of Saint Martin.
