Neuvy owes its name to the basilica built there during the eleventh and twelfth centuries on the model of the Holy Sepulchre Church in Jerusalem. This Church is on the way to Saint James of Compostela. Moreover, in 1257, Cardinal Eudes, Papal legate, gave three drops of the precious blood of Christ to the church, which began a tradition of pilgrimage to the basilica on Easter Monday. During the summer there is an exhibition in the rotunda, and from July 14th to August 15th, there is a series of lectures on Medieval Art and guided tours of surrounding romanesque churches.
